How does Pawl work?

You choose what to block. Pawl shields it with Apple's Screen Time and shows a calm “Locked by Pawl” screen in its place. Unblocking requires a physical USB-C security key (FIDO2, bought separately) you've put out of reach, plus a 15-minute cooling-off timer, so the impulsive choice becomes a deliberate one.

Do I need an account?

No. Since version 2.3 Pawl has no accounts and no sign-in. Everything stays on your phone and in your own iCloud. For accountability, give your security key to someone you trust. Whoever holds the key decides when Pawl can loosen, and they don't need to install anything.

I signed in on an older version. How do I delete that account?

Version 2.3 removed accounts and the ally feature. If you still have version 2.2 or earlier, open Pawl → Settings → Account → Delete account. If you have updated, or can't open the app, email privacy@getpawl.com from the email tied to that account and we'll delete it and everything linked to it (profile, ally link, history, devices, alerts).

How do I remove Pawl from my phone?

While Pawl is actively protecting you, it intentionally resists being deleted by long-pressing its icon. To remove it completely: open Settings → Screen Time, turn off Screen Time (or remove Pawl under “Apps with Screen Time Access”), then delete Pawl from your Home Screen.

What security key do I need?

Any FIDO2 security key with a USB-C plug works. Several makers sell them, and they need no app or account. You buy the key separately; Pawl does not sell keys and does not take a cut.

Is Pawl free?

Yes. Blocking, the security key, the cooling-off wait, your streak, and the urge tools are free and stay free. Pawl Pro is an optional subscription that adds making new scheduled sets and the weekly report. Sets you made before stay free. You can restore a subscription from Settings inside the app.
